Fiona McCarthy

Principal Metallurgist

Fiona McCarthy is a Principal Metallurgist with over 20 years’ experience in flowsheet development and engineering design for the mining and metals sector. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Metallurgy) with Honours and a PhD from the University of New South Wales and is a member of the AusIMM.

A strong process‑development professional, she has hands‑on experience spanning bench‑scale chemistry through to pilot‑plant design, operations, and management. Her expertise includes extensive hydrometallurgical processing techniques as well as varied pyrometallurgical based processing routes.

Fiona has played a central role in developing new hydrometallurgical technologies for both base and critical metals, with significant experience in process simulation, pilot plant programs and project development studies. Her background also includes commodity analysis, production costing and strategic market evaluation.
